Happy Friday loves and welcome back to porletta. Through these last couple of weeks, I’ve found myself in search of things within reach that feel good and soothe my soul outside of therapy, church and conversations with loved ones. Physically I’ve been exhausted, but mentally has been a tussle. I know tough times will pass yet in the moment of dealing with challenges my heart longs for relief even in the smallest of ways.
So today, I’m sharing some of my favorite things that I’ve been indulging in to help the tough times pass and bring me some comfort.
A comfortable place to rest with the sweetest smells of a spring fragrance around me after a nice warm shower is it – especially since lady winter can’t make her mind if she’s ready to leave or stay.
My linen duvet w/ extra soft pillows; feel-good-food; fresh flower fridays; a clean home and messages of love exchanged with people in my village envelope me like the coziest of hugs that I need and I just want to stay in this head space forever! Belly full and aesthetics just right really makes me a happy girl and soothes my soul.
Often times, I’ve found in challenging times that it is not as easy to reaffirm those words of affirmations. So to help myself overcome those hurdles, I’ve kept reminder notes within reach where I don’t need to exert much brain power to get a good ole pick me up. I am able to quickly read little tidbits around our home when I’m physically exhausted and in need of mental refresh.
Journaling has also been so helpful to get things off my mind and on to paper because sometimes it’s just a matrix of thoughts and reactions. As the tough moments pass and more spaces for joy begin to fill in; I’ve taken note of these things/experiences to add to my mental toolbox for another cloudy day. *Le sigh!*
I hope this post encouraged you to keep your head up and find what works for you. What are some of your favorite things of comfort that you retreat to? Have you ever thought about the habits you run to when stressed or facing challenges? Let me know below!
