If there is an easy breezy Brunch menu – I’m there. Well, we’ll be there! Over the weekend we tried a new spot in NW, DC not too far from Howard University, Logan Circle and Dupont Circle.
Still with pandemic precautions in place, we had an amazing time at Provision No. 14. The food was incredibly filling and the outdoor seating area was just breezy. The establishment was serious about mask-wearing when not at your table and dining and I appreciated the extra precautions!
My honey and I ordered the same thing – the Chicken Waffle Sandwich, although I added delicious caramel crepes to my tall order of food. They have a cute “Libations” labeled section of the menu and bottomless mimosa options as well, if you so desire.
The Chicken waffle sandwich came with large yet sweeten just right Belgian waffles, fried chicken that wasn’t too oily and seasoned well. The maple syrup all over would have made it too thick for my liking and consumption, but on the side I could do that. Delicious fruits complimented the entrée well and then the fries – which were more like breakfast potatoes took me home! Let’s not forgot, I also ordered some sweet caramel crepes – needless to say, I took a good amount of food home as those 90s denim could not hold much in post brunch!
We drank to our hearts’ content with the virgin mojitos and baybee – that mixologist did not miss. Highly recommend. After we stacked a nice bill, we went strolling through our familiar NW streets for a bit then headed home. The city girl in me always loves a peaceful city stroll!
My take: Try it out and see if the entire package is your thing. You will definitely be filled. Service was kind. An ID of 21+ to enter was required, but for the food, drinks and ambiance – this was a winner.
A quaint city restaurant with subtle pizzaz to place in your “good places for brunch” list. Let me know if you try Provision, is it better with a larger group or not so much? How was the food for you and any other brunch spots in DC that’s worth the reservation list if required? Let me know!
